Tenth Post, Dr D-Brinkmann Please Give me an A

December 11, 2011 Leave a comment

Dr D-Brinkman,

I have scatteredly cluttered the world of wordpress with my words of foolishness for the past semester. A really big gap exists between my first series of posts and this one.

But I do believe that it meets the criteria for the assignment. It’s been good having you as a professor and I’m certain you will find it in your heart to give me an A.

Hope you have a wonderful life in the big state of Pennsylvania and your children grow tall and strong.

Thanks!

Copyright Law and Creative Use

December 11, 2011 Leave a comment

I recently read this article about how wedding videographers are getting sued by copyright owners for using songs without proper licensing and gaining popularity via youtube.

From an Artists perspective I can understand some of the strife in wanting to get your due from your music. But also it is not the artists that are suing the other (visual) Artists. It is the machine of the music industry. Which is another great reason to advocate for Creative Commons Licensing.

Goodness.

Traditional copyright does not protect the creators of work as much as it protects the people that hold the copyrights to something.

Food for thought.

Address is Approximate

This may be the most moving short I’ve see.

The cinematography is breathtaking, the over-all ambiance, moving. The music choice was splendid and production value/believability better than almost any video I’ve seen.

Google maps stop-motion, video and mere toy animation. Breath-taking storytelling in it’s simplest form.

This is pretty cool.

IMDB Page for my documentary Reel Old School. (Still in the works as far as distribution is concerned.)
